Tackling bullying

Hatred and discrimination start on an individual level before they ever grow to take on historical proportions. Rebecca and Heather created resource packs, displays and led school assemblies all encouraging students to challenge bullying within school and the local community.

"Talking to pupils in assemblies we began the process of educating them on the importance of equality and fairness."

Students were asked to consider and discuss these questions:

• Can you think of a time when you have been discriminated against? How did it feel?
• Can you think of a time when you have stood up for what you believe? What were other people's reactions?
• Why do you think it can be hard for some people to stand up for their beliefs?
