Lessons From Auschwitz

Rachel Ropper & Peter Wright - Broxburn Academy, West Lothian

Looking Past the Statistics

During their classes Rachel and Peter used local facts and thought provoking statements to ecourage students to remember the individual stories of the Holocaust. They asked students to reflect on:

  • 5.1 million live in Scotland, this is nearly the amount of people who were murdered during the Holocaust.
  • We all have a right to be who we want to be, but sometimes we forget this. It isn't fair to discriminate against people simply because they are different from us.
  • Innocent people were murdered simply because they were different, and we should remember these individuals and their stories.
  • In remembering these events we can help stop this happening again.

"I hope the students have learnt something from my presentation and that they can apply these lessons to their future life"
